Mengelberg ziet dat helemaal niet zitten en stuurt haar door naar Berlijn, waar ze tegen alle verwachting in als vrouw meer kans blijkt te maken. Na haar tweejarige studie aan de Rijksacademie voor Muziek zal ze daar als eerste vrouw het beroemde Berlijns Philharmonisch Orkest dirigeren.
